Seek Pet Food, a private-label kibble manufacturer in China, secured an undisclosed investment from private equity (PE) firm Advent International.
The PE firm will support Seek’s innovation in the functional pet food space and boost expansion in the domestic market, which was worth RMB 69 billion ($9.6B/€8.7B) in 2023, and new international markets.
Production and R&D
The Shandong-headquartered company has an annual production volume of 200,000 tons and is known for its production of kibble, baked food, freeze-dried food, canned wet food, wet food pouches, and treats for the premium and mid-segment market.
The manufacturer also has a 10,000 sq m research and development (R&D) lab and testing center and holds 66 international and domestic animal nutrition patents.
A company spokesperson confirms that it relies on the Southeast Asian markets as its primary export business.
Advent has previously invested in Globus Events (the organizer of Pet Fair Asia), European pet food producer Partner in Pet Food and US veterinary hospital network National PetCare Centers.
