The roots of the Bavarian family business Interquell date back to 1765. It all began with a grain mill on the river Singold in Wehringen.
In the 1950s the company introduced a pioneering innovation: using a brand-new technology and equipment, cereal was produced which, used together with dried meat, resulted in the first complete dry dog food!
Global presence
The recipes, ingredients and additives have been refined time and again over the years, based on the latest scientific knowledge. And eventually aboveaverage growth rates landed Happy Dog the first place in the dry dog food sector in German specialist pet shops. The much sought after Happy Dog products have made their way from Wehringen to the rest of the world. Now, Happy Dog is available in Europe, most of Eastern Europe and in some countries in Asia, Africa and South America. The company is constantly striving to reach this level in other selected countries, too. Interquell is also trying to take its other brand, Happy Cat, to this level.
Quality and safety
The health and vitality of animals is particularly close to Georg Müller’s heart, owner and Managing Director of Interquell. The company focuses on moderate energy content, adapted to the actual requirements of cats and dogs in their status today as family pets. This prevents overfeeding and the attendant problems.
Unlike many rival products, Happy Dog and Happy Cat are produced with no vegetable protein substitutes, such as soy, and also do not contain any colourants, flavour enhances or preservatives. The unique Natural Life Concept with many natural ingredients ensures dogs and cats maintain good overall health. All recipes are subject to the strictest quality controls, and have a digestibility of over 90% for the greater wellbeing of pets.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Another topic very close to the heart of Georg Müller is responsibility for people, animals and the environment. Just one example: The company donates 2% of the retail price of each pack of the very successful grain free product ‘Happy Dog Africa’ sold to SOS Children’s Villages in Africa. The company has thus already raised over €840,000 (US$741,255), which covers warm meals for 1,000 children and pupils in Bujumbura.
