“The current aquarium trade platforms are relying on old models that failed to modernize and no longer fit our industry. Today, the unifying power of our association meets the driving force of a global show organiser. Let’s seize this historic opportunity to reintegrate resources, revitalize the aquarium industry, promote better practices and develop a sustainable and healthy global aquarium industry.”
Time for a change
With these words, the President of the Guangdong Aquarium Industry Association, Mr Yang Qinquan, announced on 9 April the signature of a long-term strategic cooperation agreement with VNU Exhibitions Asia –organiser of the 18-year- old tradeshow Pet Fair Asia (Shanghai). The aquarium industry in China is undergoing rapid development both in export and within its domestic market, urging the need for a modern, reliable trade platform that meets the needs of professionals and anticipates the changing dynamics of the industry.
It is with this concept in mind that both parties decided to launch Aqua Fair Asia in Guangzhou, a platform created by professionals at the heart of the global aquarium industry. Designed as not only an exhibition but a comprehensive business accelerator ecosystem, Aqua Fair Asia will come with high-level conferences, business talks, trade match-making and educational programmes.
The organisers have committed to highlighting solutions for tomorrow’s challenges: online and offline strategy workshops; a forum on the evolution of the trade business at a global, regional and domestic level and two-way trading. On-site activities, which will include a Koi competition, aqua-scaping demonstrations and workshops, games and lucky draws, will complete Aqua Fair Asia for a true celebration of the aquarium world.
Support from industry leaders
Leaders from the Chinese aquarium industry have already expressed strong support for Aqua Fair Asia. HAILEA Co., Minjiang Aquarium Co., Songbao Co., RESUN Co., Sunsun Group Co., Chuangxing Electrical appliances Co., Zhenhua Electrical Appliance Co., Risheng Electrical Products Co., Porpoise Aquarium Co. and many others were looking for a trade event that could breathe new life into their industry and have already chosen to rely on this new partner for domestic and international business. With their support, Aqua Fair Asia will bring a wind of change to the small world of aquatic trade shows.
The first edition of Aqua Fair Asia will take place from 8 to 11 October 2015 at Guangzhou Poly World Trade Center Expo (PTWC – Next to the Canton Fair Pazhou Complex). It is expected to attract 300 exhibitors and 12,000 professional visitors from China and overseas.
Organisers
“Thanks to the leadership of the Association and the support and trust of its members, VNU Exhibitions Asia will be able to better understand and communicate with industry professionals. With more than 20 flagship exhibitions in Asia at the forefront of innovation in terms of organisation, management and marketing, our company’s experience will bring three key elements to this equation: the right audience, forward- thinking content and a high level of service,” says David Zhong, President of VNU Exhibitions Asia.
Established in 1998, the Guangdong Aquarium Industry Association represents more than 300 companies in China and has developed a unique network of partners nationwide and overseas. It plays a major role alongside Chinese authorities to develop and improve industry norms, coordinates its members’ global communication and provides market guidance, technical and educational support.
