United Petfood has purchased a production plant in Mishawaka, Indiana, from Wellness Pet Company, which will become its first production facility in the US.
According to the Ghent-based private-label pet food manufacturer, this strategic move to establish local production in the US is a pivotal step in solidifying its presence in this key market.
“This acquisition allows us to better serve our American customers with locally produced, high-quality pet food. We see tremendous opportunities for growth and collaboration and are excited about the potential for synergies between our operations across different continents,” says Elodie Fleury, United Petfood’s Vice President of the Americas.
Wellness Pet Company will transition its production to a larger facility in Arkansas, which it acquired in 2022.
Earlier this year, United Petfood acquired its first production plant in the Nordics.
