Schubert expands footprint to address North America’s booming demand

The German packaging group will consolidate its operations overseas in North Carolina.

The company will focus on state-of-the-art highly flexible pet food packaging technology given that the market has developed “disproportionately well” in recent times.

“Fortunately, the pandemic has not slowed down the ongoing development of our product innovations. Demand from our North American customers for state-of-the-art packaging technology with great flexibility and a high degree of automation has been high,” claimed Hartmut Siegel, CEO of Schubert North America.

Schubert’s subsidiary in North America has completed a property acquisition in Charlotte in April this year. In addition to the new offices, an assembly hall will be built at the new location. Final assembly and commissioning for TLM packaging machines will also be carried out there.

“In the past, customers often had to fly to Schubert’s global headquarters in Crailsheim, Germany, to approve their machines. In the future, approvals of selected machines will take place directly on-site in Charlotte,” explained Siegel.

The German group has been active with sales and service in the US since 1998, with previous headquarters in Dallas, Texas, before moving to Charlotte in 2015. The city has now become a regional hub for German businesses in the United States, with 213 German companies having subsidiaries or branch offices in the area.
