APPA appoints Bob Merar as interim CEO days before the start of Global Pet Expo
The president of General Pet Supply will temporarily lead the American Pet Products Association, one of the organizers of the annual trade event taking place in Florida this week.
Merar has been an active APPA member for several decades and has served on the board in various positions over the years.
The association highlighted that it “remains committed” to advancing the success of its members and the pet care community.
The announcement came just days before the start of the Global Pet Expo, organized by the American Pet Products Association and the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA).
PIDA president Celeste Powers will lead the trade show management during the event happening in Orlando from March 23rd to 25th.
In the meantime, the association is looking for a new CEO after Steve King announced his retirement in December. APPA Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Andrew Darmohraj acted as interim CEO since then.
“The board is eager to find the best candidate possible and transition that person into the role quickly and smoothly,” the association said.
