The American equipment company aims to expand its footprint in aqua feed and pet food in Asia.
Process equipment and engineered technologies company CPM recently acquired IDAH, a firm specializing in creating pellets as well as extruding and drying equipment. Together, they hope to work on sustainable pet feed opportunities.
CPM’s General Manager Charlie Spearing told GlobalPETS that the acquisition “is a perfect fit,” enabling the company “to make inroads” in markets where it has growth ambition.
“IDAH has great strength and presence in the aquafeed and pet food markets [and] strong relationships with customers in the Southeast Asia and China markets.”
IDAH’s Founder, James Chang, said he hopes to “innovate and create robust solutions that meet the evolving needs of our global customers.”
What’s next?
Spearing explained that the company is particularly excited about using IDAH’s capabilities “to expand its global position in the aqua feed, pet food, and plant-based protein processing markets.”
The IDAH team and business will be integrated within CPM’s Process Solutions business unit.
In addition to expanding the global footprint, the deal is expected to increase the company’s portfolio solution and production capacity.
GlobalPETS learned that CPM intends to leverage its manufacturing capabilities in China to support aquafeed and pet food solution growth in the Southeast Asia region.
The firm also plans to strategically introduce the IDAH brand to Latin America, where CPM has a growing and influential presence.
