The company is to implement a new pilot at selected US stores where customers will be able to buy pet products in addition to home appliances.

The project is aimed to bring products, services and expertise for both home and pets into “one, convenient stop” at selected Lowe’s locations in the US.

“For many of our customers, their pets and their homes top the list of things that matter most, especially after two years spent mostly together within the same four walls,” says Lowe’s executive vice president Bill Boltz.

The participating stores will offer a range of food, beds and toys for pets. Some of them are also expected to provide a selection of Petco’s pet services, including Vetco vaccination clinics, microchipping, prescription pest prevention and mobile grooming.

This pilot program will start this early February in Texas stores, and it will be gradually implemented to 14 additional shops in Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina by the end of March.

Lowe’s currently has more than 2,100 stores in North America and all of them have in place a “pets welcome” atmosphere and a selection of pet-friendly products.

In its fiscal financial outlook from December, the company forecasted sales of $95 billion (€85B) in 2021, a 33% increase in two years.

The company expects reaching sales of $94 billion (€84B) to $97 billion (€86.8B) in 2022.
