Industry veteran Poul Weihrauch to take Mars to the “next stage”
The Global President will succeed the current CEO Grant F. Reid from the end of September.
Weihrauch joined the giant in 2000 as a European brand leader for chocolate brand Snickers. In 2014, he became President of Global Petcare and oversaw the business diversification into veterinary health, diagnostics, data, and platforms.
According to the company, over these years he doubled the size of the business and drove “significant focus” and investment into the petcare sustainability agenda.
“He is known for his inspirational and inclusive leadership style, for growing businesses and renovating brands and for his deep commitment to Associate engagement and development,” claimed Frank Mars, Chair of the Mars Board of Directors.
“Strong” leadership
Mars believes that Weihrauch is a “strong” leader who will protect the company’s legacy while leading the organization towards “what promises to be a bright and exciting future.”
“We live in challenging times but I’m an optimist and I believe in the power of business to have a positive impact and, in particular, the freedom we have at Mars to do the right thing for our Associates and the world we operate in,” said Weihrauch.
The start of the new CEO’s reign will also come with some senior appointments within the company. Loic Moutault, President at Royal Canin, is set to become Mars Global Petcare President, and Cécile Coutens is the new Royal Canin President since July.
