Kormotech’s strategic quest: Top 30 Petfood Leader by 2028
Ukrainian pet food producer Kormotech began 2024 by unveiling its new strategy as it embarked on a 5-year journey to establish itself as a global industry player.
One of Kormotech’s biggest goals is to join the ranks of the world’s top 30 pet food companies. This will see the company build upon its recent successes—it reached 51st place globally in 2022 and 55th in 2023. Considering the challenging circumstances of martial law in Ukraine, this is a significant accomplishment.
Eastern and Central European markets
The company plans to focus its marketing efforts on Eastern and Central Europe, leveraging its geographical proximity and optimistic economic growth forecasts. Currently, sales in Romania, Poland and Hungary contribute to almost half of Kormotech’s total exports, and these markets exhibit promising economic prospects.
Additionally, Croatia and Moldova have shown the highest internal demand for Kormotech brands. “The entire region is diverse, and we will work flexibly to establish ourselves in its 15 markets, considering their specific characteristics, exploring customers’ expectations, and bringing world-class production standards,” says Kormotech CEO Rostyslav Vovk.
Production facilities
Kormotech is also closely tied to another country in the region—Lithuania—where its modern production facility has been operational for over 3 years. The plant is expected to undergo expansion by 2028, thanks to significant investments from Kormotech’s owners.
From 2025, a new stage will be opened every year in the Kėdainiai Free Economic Zone with the support of Litva Invest, the country’s investment promotion agency.
The second country where Kormotech is deepening its corporate presence is Poland, where Kormotech Global is headquartered and acts as a supply hub for its European contractors.
In London, Kormotech has set up its venture capital arm to invest in innovative projects in the pet care and pet food sectors in Europe and the USA. This underscores the company’s efforts to extend its production, deliveries, and innovations beyond its home country, enhancing its international visibility and integration into global industry processes.
“We currently export to 42 countries around the world, not limited to Europe. We are pushing further and tackling the complex challenges of the Asian markets and the USA with its high competition,” adds Vovk.
Ambitious target
Kormotech plans to overtake more than 20 global pet food companies in 5 the next years when the ambitious production project in Lithuania is fully up and running.
Regarding turnover, the company has set itself an ambitious target of $500 million by 2028.
In Ukraine, Kormotech is a leading pet food producer competing with global international companies in the domestic market. However, it anticipates reversing this perception and exporting 70% of its products as a new strategic goal in the next stage following its 20th anniversary in 2023.
