The new Chonburi (Thailand) plant will test new products and develop new recipes.
The recently opened APAC Pet Center in eastern Thailand sits on a 3,360 square meter site on the Mars plant in Amata City Chonburi Industrial Estate. It will support the manufacturers with innovations set in accordance with international research standards.
The facility “deploys cutting-edge technology” to examine pets’ consumption behaviors concerning preferences, optimal serving sizes, and food digesting efficiency.
“This useful data will be used to improve the palatability and quality of pet food and also to develop new pet food recipes that meet both the nutritional and palatability needs of pets,” said Dr. Jaruk Srikiatden, Asia R&D Director at Mars Petcare Thailand.
Serving different countries in the region
The facility will capture feeding data electronically and offer product testing services for Mars Petcare foods to several countries, including Australia, New Zealand, China, India, and South Korea.
The new plant will also facilitate exchanging knowledge and insight into pet food with students, veterinarians, academics, and scientists.
According to Thailand’s Department of Livestock Development, the new center will augment Thailand’s capabilities and “propel it to the forefront” of the pet food R&D sphere in the region
