2 pet companies have recently earned B Corp certificates after Lintbells, Zesty Paws, Solid Gold and Agronutris did so earlier in the year.
B Corp certification is a global standard for businesses that meet high social and environmental performance standards.
Open Farm
Established in 2014, the pet food manufacturer scored 102.8 in the assessment, making it the “highest-scoring dog and cat food brand” sold in North America. A company needs a score of at least 80 to become a B Corp.
Open Farm, which is a member of the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC), offers a range of dry and wet foods, bone broth, freeze-dried raw products, nutritional supplements and gently cooked meals.
“In 2024, our primary goal is to expand our reach within existing markets,” Isaac Langleben, Co-founder and CEO of Open Farm, tells GlobalPETS.
Tails.com
UK-based dog food company Tails.com earned a B Corp certificate with an assessment score of 89.8.
The company is known for offering personalized nutrition subscription boxes. In 2023, it delivered 165 million tailor-made meals for pets.
Tails.com also secured the highest scores in the workers’ welfare section (25.8) and for its environmental management practices (25.1).
The firm uses 100% renewable energy, and most of its packaging is recyclable – 97% in the UK and 90% in Germany.
