Czech pet food producer VAFO Group closed a deal with Swedish wholesaler Lupus Foder, acquiring a majority stake in the company.
Both companies have been working for more than ten years and “intensive negotiations” about VAFO’s entry into the firm have been taking place for the last 6 months.
Lupus’ top leadership, Tobias Andersson, Helena Hallström, and Svante Larsson, will retain management positions and a minority stake in the firm.
“When the founders took the decision to leave the company, we were looking for a suitable partner to continue with. We had many interesting offers, but it was important for us to find a partner who is also a family business like us and guarantees high-quality products without compromise,” said Andersson to GlobalPETS.
Lupus Foder was founded in Västerås by Jan-Christer Andersson and Inge Larsson and distributes high-quality pet brands. The firm also owns the dog and cat pet food brand FourFriends. As part of the deal, VAFO aims to “enrich” the brand with other products produced across its 8 factories.
