How C&D Foods aims to boost production capacity by 25%
ABP Food Group’s pet food division recently announced a capital injection of €48 million.
The €48 million ($52.8M) investment, led by government agency Enterprise Ireland, will help the pet food manufacturer create over 100 jobs across engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality assurance at C&D Foods’ flagship facility in Edgeworthstown, County Longford.
This brings ABP Foods’ total investment in its plant to €118 million ($130 million) since 2006., and it is expected to push the site’s production capacity by 25%.
According to the company, the capital injection will also help in the construction and addition of state-of-the-art automated multi-packing and pouch-filling lines by late 2024.
A prime position
C&D Foods Managing Director Colm Dore highlighted that the company is in “prime position” to continue to capitalize on the growing demand for pouched pet food.
“We have worked closely with C&D Foods to support them with their sustainability strategy, reducing carbon by investing in carbon abatement technologies and driving productivity through investing in digitalization technologies,” adds CEO of Enterprise Ireland Leo Clancy.
From 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023, the company brought in €106.7 million ($116.2M) in revenue. During the same period the previous year, it brought in €84 million ($91.5M).
C&D Foods employs 1,500 people in its manufacturing facilities and sales offices across 14 locations in Europe. In 2021, the manufacturer signed a €60 million contract with ProAmpac, a Donegal-based packaging company, making them its strategic supplier of pet food pouches.
