Pinnacle takes over UK operations of American pet insurance

JAB-owned Pinnacle Pet Group (PPG) expects to expand its British customers to 1 million after taking over the national business of Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group.

The Ohio-based pet insurance offers flexible coverage for dogs and cats. The group owns VioVet, a pet e-commerce and e-pharmacy company supplying pet products with nearly 900,000 transactions per year.

Dirk Beeckman, CEO of JAB’s pet insurance portfolio, said that this acquisition will advance its mission “to build a pet insurance and health services platform comprising of pet insurance, pet e-commerce, and e-pharmacy offerings.”

The ambition of PPG, established in 2021 through a joint venture with BNP Paribas Cardif, is to create the leading pet insurance and health services platform globally, outside North America.

Last July, JAB announced the acquisition of German pet insurer AGILA, founded in 1994 in Hanover. According to the company, it is the market leader in animal health insurance for dogs and cats in Germany and Austria.
