Samsung Elec’s Galaxy S11 to offer pet care features

South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co. is expected to add smart pet care features to its next flagship smartphone Galaxy S11, due to be released early next year, in partnership with local beauty and healthcare firm Aram Huvis.

According to multiple industry sources on Thursday, Samsung Electronics plans to sign a partnership agreement with small- and mid-size firm Aram Huvis to add pet care features such as pet healthcare monitoring functions to its upcoming flagship smartphone Galaxy S11 due to be out next year. Galaxy S11 owners will also receive discounts when purchasing pet care devices manufactured by Aram Huvis.

Under the partnership, Aram Huvis’ pet healthcare device will be linked to Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S11 to enable its users to systemically manage health data of their pets.

Aram Huvis – founded in 2002 – is a small Korean company that develops and manufactures skin and hair health analysis devices and scanners, as well as image medical devices, and it is a hidden champion exporting its products to some 70 countries.

It is not be the first time for Samsung Electronics to introduce pet-related features and marketing to its gadgets.

The company’s Jet cordless vacuum cleaner came with a pet fur removal brush in some models. In August, Samsung Electronics also uploaded superstar pet images of six teams selected among 5,136 participants on its social webpage under marketing that support pet home appliance campaign.

Last month, Samsung Electronics launched a singing app for pets in North Europe, allowing owners to gain pet attraction and howling. The app was developed together with pet psychologists, behavior specialists, and songwriters, the company said.

Last year, Samsung Electronics acquired a patent on virtual dog leash in the United States that enables dog walkers to remotely pull and control their pets using a smartphone application. The biggest feature of the virtual lease is that it is wireless. The smart collar on the dog’s neck is equipped with several sensors that deliver magnetic forces according to signal.

Samsung Electronics’ pet care features are expected to attract attention from consumers in Korea where the pet industry is booming.
