The origin story

The idea for the Cheeky company came from a simple observation: dog toys are of poor quality and break quickly.

Celia, Alice (her sister) and Benjamin (her husband) were running a bullet-proof vest production unit in France when Celia and Benjamin adopted a dog, Apache, a 4-year-old American staff.

Apache was destroying all its supposedly “indestructible” toys within minutes, so in 2022 Celia, Alice and Benjamin decided to completely rethink the design of dog toys with materials and techniques similar to those used in the defense industry.

By analyzing the performance of their first creations, incorporating ballistic fibers and assembly techniques from bullet-proof vests, compared with the so-called “resistant” toys on the market, this small family set about the task of designing a range of toys that would combine safety, durability and fun, drawing on the advice of veterinarians and experts in canine behavior.

These toys meet dogs’ needs and instincts while guaranteeing their well-being and safety.

The toys

Innovation is at the heart of Cheeky’s approach. Cheeky toys are designed using patented technical materials previously reserved for military applications, such as high-tenacity ballistic fibers including ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), commonly used for bullet-proof vests.

This bold choice of materials ensures exceptional resistance while remaining safe for dogs. This unique design enables Cheeky products to withstand the most powerful jaws, while remaining intact even after hours of intensive play and chewing.

Dog safety is our top priority. Unlike many conventional toys, ours are designed to limit the risk of ingesting textiles, stuffing or other harmful synthetic components that can lead to serious intestinal complications.

Made from sturdy, non-toxic ballistic textiles, they’re water-resistant and won’t degrade easily.

For its launch, Cheeky is preparing a pre-order campaign via the Kickstarter platform scheduled for early November 2024.
