On Friday 15th May, Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Borough Council will open the new facility after 5 years of planning and an additional 4 years of construction. The development is part of GA’s 15 years master plan. The plan ensures the business continues to provide industry leading products for Partner brands throughout the world.
The new facility allows GA to know the source of all raw materials and complete traceability throughout the process.
GA will celebrate this huge achievement along with nearly 150 build contractors from across the world, from The Netherlands to Japan, bringing together a wide range of knowledge and expertise working alongside GA colleagues with whom will now run and manage the site.
The Company would particularly like to thank Chorley Borough Council, whom without their planning consent; the development would not have been possible.
INGREDIENT KITCHEN FACTS
– GA now manufacturers some 75,000 tonnes of pet food
– 900 different ingredients
– 7,000 different packaging styles
– 1600 different Partners we work with
– 44% is exported to 37 different countries, including Russia and Japan.
– The business engages some 850 colleagues, being employees, agency staff and contractors,
– working 24/7.
– Nearly 30 years of expertise in manufacturing Pet Food
– Europe’s first outdoor Automated Guided Vehicles
– GA built its own IT software for the management and control of the Ingredients Kitchen
– The ingredients has a capacity of 120,000 tonnes of pet food
– The Ingredients Kitchen is 36,500 sq ft
– Storage of up to 6,300 tonnes of raw materials
– Every one of the ingredients is 100 % traceable from entering site to leaving. This facility will enable us to book in every dry ingredient and our vision is ultimately to generate complete transparency to the consumer so by the scan of a bar code they can “see” precisely where their product ingredients have come from.
