The new Arcaplanet Group, created after the recent acquisition of the pet care operator by PE firm Cinven, will have 500 stores across the country.
The combination of both businesses aims to consolidate the retailers in the Italian market and expand to new geographies.
They also want to increase the penetration of the new group in the “fast-growing” online channel in Italy and improve the digital and omnichannel strategy.
Cinven highlighted the value of Arcaplanet as a “strong and well-recognized” leading pet care brand with an “excellent” customer proposition.
Maxi Zoo, part of the Fressnapf Group, has 144 stores across 12 Italian regions. It posted a revenue of over €193 million ($212.1M) in 2021.
Arcaplanet is present in 17 regions with nearly 400 stores, some of which opened in the last months. Its revenue was over €400 million ($439.6M) last year.
