GlobalPETS learned more details about the first partnership of the popular food delivery platform with a pet retailer.
Pet parents in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico can now order pet products from 1,600 PetSmart locations after reaching a new partnership with Uber Technologies.
Christian Freese, Head of Grocery & Retail for Uber Eats in the US & Canada welcomed the new “strong retail partnership” with the pet retailer with the aim to “help pet lovers get what they need delivered with the tap of a button.”
PetSmart is Uber’s first national pet care partner and will anchor the app’s Pet Supplies category across North America. Uber’s grocery, retail and new verticals business has grown to more than 100,000 merchant partners, according to the Californian-based firm.
Omnichannel strategy
Stacia Andersen, Chief Costumer Officer at PetSmart, commented that with this new partnership pet parents have another way to shop “in the way that best fits their preference, schedule and lifestyle. “Convenience means something a little different for every pet parent,” she added.
The American pet retailer has recently closed another partnership with Shipt marketplace – owned by Target department store chain – to deliver pet products from 1,300 US pet stores on the same day. Cherise Ordlock, Senior Vice President of Digital at PetSmart, said that same-day delivery is a “key component” of the retailer’s omnichannel strategy.
In 2020, PetSmart cooperated with online delivery firm DoorDash to offer same-day delivery service.
