Assisi Pet Care eyes new distribution channels for its dog treats

The British manufacturer has recently acquired treat producer Pet Munchies to gain strength in the natural food market.

With the takeover, Assisi Pet Care expects to gain the capacity to expand its product portfolio with a brand that is already “well recognized” on the market.

“The opportunity will give access to many more pet owners and the ability to widen our markets,” observed Pet Munchies founder Suzanne Rotman.

Assisi’s CEO Peter Mangion said that Pet Munchies has “enormous potential” to grow in both the UK and European markets. “We look forward to helping deliver that growth in the very near future,” he concluded.

Second takeover

This is the second acquisition by the company in 2022. In February, the company acquired Maced, a Poland-based manufacturer that specializes in dog snacks, to continue its growth strategy in the “fast-growing” pet food segment in Europe.

Assisi Pet Care, set up in 2020 by Peter Mangion in a buy-and-build joint venture, is still something of a newcomer to the British market. Since its inception, the brand has focused its acquisitions on companies specializing in natural food for dogs and cats, such as Hollings Ltd, Town and Country Petfood and HiLife.

Pet Munchies was founded in 2008 and has built up a strong online presence on its own website and the Amazon platform.
