Brazilian pet retail chain Petz acquires dog pad manufacturer Petix

The operation represents a “unique move” to develop a strong brand and become a market leader.
The acquisition, which also includes Petix US division WizSmart, takes place amid exponential growth of the dog pad brand in the US.
“We are adding manufacturing capacity, expanding our product line and investing in marketing to make WizSmart an industry leader in the U.S. and beyond,” said CEO and founder of Petix Rogerio Haddad.
Petz believes that the new agreement will allow placing in the market a differentiated product in a fast-growing and still low penetrated category.
“Petix represents everything we believe in when it comes to building a differentiated platform, and very much in line with the Petz Group’s strategic vision of being recognized worldwide as the best ecosystem in the Pet sector by 2025,” added founder and CEO of Grupo Petz Sergio Zimerman.
Petix, a company operating in the market since 2008, is considered one of the largest manufacturers of hygienic mats in Brazil. It also has a portfolio of pet accessories distributed to pet shops and veterinary clinics.
