The leading pet and aquarium fair in Asia moves to September dates and launches the CIPS Innovation Awards.
First-choice platform
With 22 years of continuous growth, CIPS has become a must-attend annual show for both domestic and international trade in the pet and aquarium industry. It is a first-choice platform for releasing the latest, most innovative products and for connecting with private label suppliers.
CIPS 2018 will feature around 1,500 exhibitors over 120,000 sqm of exhibition space and expects to attract 65,000 international visitors.
Now in September
In 2018, the organisers have moved CIPS up from early November to late September to leave businesses more time to release new products and prepare for the big sales seasons of 11 November, Black Friday, Christmas, New Year and the Chinese Spring Festival.
As an indication of how important these sales seasons are, last year, Alibaba’s Tmall reached RMB 168.2 billion ($26.7/ €21.5 billion) in turnover in 24 hours on 11 November. This year, the Double 11 E-Commerce Carnival plans to turn the whole month into an online shopping spree in China.
On trend
While sourcing is still happening in China for other parts of the world, China itself is increasingly looking around for sourcing to benefit its own fast growing national pet market.
This trend is particularly visible in the pet food sector. Accordingly, one session of GlobalPet Forum Asia will be devoted to private labels and will assist Chinese distributors finding international sourcing suppliers. On the show floor, the organisers have designated one area specialising in imported pet food and pet food additives, to help distributors connect with suppliers efficiently.
CIPS Innovation Awards
To stimulate and reward innovation in the pet industry, this year will see the launch of the annual CIPS Innovation Awards at the show. The best and most exciting innovations will be selected by an expert jury from the entries submitted in advance of the show. Information on how to enter will be available soon.
Award winning products will receive great exposure at CIPS and through live social media broadcast to the industry professionals and consumers. The CIPS Innovation Showcase will tour all major pet shows all over the world.
CIPS 2018 will take place 27-30 September at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, Guangzhou.
