Conagit is an Italian pet food company that has been manufacturing animal feed since 1956, under the Giuntini brand.
About the brand
In the 1980s, Giuntini was one of the first Italian brands to specialize in dry pet food. Since its establishment, the brand has constantly improved the pet food production in terms of quality and quantity. Today, they also manufacture dog and cat snacks and treats.
The Giuntini pet food plant is the biggest pet food factory in Italy and one of the largest in Europe. Both the brand’s pet food plant and headquarters are situated in Cittá di Castello, Umbria.
In 2013, a new biscuits industrial unit was inaugurated. A special oven, designed for the production of biscuits for human consumption, was adapted for the production of pet snacks. Two years later, the factory was expanded with a new plant for other snacks of the brand.
Product innovation
Giuntini’s philosophy is that convenience and innovation go hand in hand. A good marketing strategy also depends on innovation in manufacturing and on the quality of the raw materials. Time and time again this has proven to be a success formula for the Giutini brand.
The need for technological innovation led Giuntini to adopt modern and completely automated production lines, which have allowed them to rapidly increase the production of both pet food and snacks over the last five years. As a result, the brand has managed to increase its export activities to the current levels.
Quality control
Giuntini applies the European food safety regulation 178/02 regarding product traceability, and carries out rigid and rigorous controls during all production stages of both of pet food and snacks. The brand carries out several tests on raw materials, semi-processed goods and the final products throughout the production process.
Specific prophylaxis and control are carried out at every stage of the production process and investments in pet health are policies that has allowed the company to obtain and retain the important ISO 9001:2000 and IFS certifications. Giuntini has also obtained 14001 and NO GMO certifications.
Marketing and promotion
Leonardo Grassilli is the new export manager, and together with colleague Roberta Giorni and Vice-President, Mauro Landini, he is working on implementing the company’s marketing strategy.
Giuntini plans to be much more involved in local and international events, and they will run a strong international advertising campaign in 2016. The company has been focusing on a more prominent positioning of the brand Crancy and Pro in terms of export activities and promotional activities.
In general, the company’s objective for 2016 is to consolidate its presence in the pet industry and to increase its share on international markets.
