The Austrian company hopes to expand its footprint in Central and Eastern Europe.
Coveris has confirmed the expansion of its business in the Central and Eastern European region through the acquisition of Polish packaging business D.K. Lamin, whose expertise “perfectly aligns” with Coveris’ pet food growth strategy.
Coveris CEO Christian Kolarik tells GlobalPETS that the acquisition enables them to strengthen its presence in Poland with potential export opportunities in neighboring countries.
Coveris launched its first manufacturing establishment in the region 3 years ago and hopes its new acquisition will allow them to create a high-tech packaging production hub in Eastern Europe.
Kolarik adds that acquiring D.K. Lamin allows them to expand capacity and competence in plastic premade pet food packaging. He sees “huge growth potential by adding high-value capacity and expertise.”
D.K. Lamin produces packaging, including polyethylene films, bags and laminated tapes used for packaging goods. Former owner Pawel Daniluk will stay on under the new role of managing director.
Future plans
Pet food is a “core business” for Coveris, and the CEO expresses that they are looking forward to “extending their strong position in the market.”
To date, Coveris operates from a network of plants in Germany, France, the UK, Hungary and, with the recent acquisition of D.K. Lamin, now Poland.
GlobalPETS learned that the Vienna-headquartered firm plans to invest further into its European capabilities.
