Ex-government official Henry Dimbleby will spearhead the cultivated meat company’s growth strategy.
London-headquartered Good Dog Food has appointed Henry Dimbleby, an entrepreneur and food campaigner, to its board as a non-executive director.
Dimbleby previously served as the non-executive director at the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) from 2018 to 2023 and led the UK government’s Food Strategy Review in 2021 to create the first comprehensive report in 70 years.
In his new role, he is expected to assist with strategy, commercialization and government relations.
Launched in March 2022, Good Dog Food is known for developing cultivated pet food from sustainable, slaughter-free, antibiotic-free, high-quality, nutritious ingredients.
Investment
The company most recently raised £1 million (€1.1M/$1.25M) as part of its £3.6 million (€4.1M/$4.5M) seed financing round in May 2023 through cellular agriculture investor Agronomics, which currently owns 42% of the company’s shares. Additionally, it invested £150,000 (€170K/$188K) in the founder’s round last year.
“Henry’s extensive background in shaping the UK’s food strategy makes him a great fit for the role,” comments Jim Mellon, Agronomics Co-Founder.
He adds that he looks forward to the “fresh insights and perspective” Henry will bring to the company while continuing to drive Good Dog Food’s growth and “amplify its impact in the cellular agriculture sector.”
