What started as a small family business in 2003 has grown to become the biggest player in the Ukrainian pet food market.
Family values and ambitious goals
The company was founded in 2003 by Orest Vovk and his children Rostyslav and Olena. Their mission was to make high quality, affordable food for dogs and cats while ensuring the joy of communication with happy and healthy pets. Together they have created one of the Top-50 European pet food producers and are working towards being listed in the Top-50 of world leading companies in pet food.
Pet food pioneers
From the start, the company deployed industry experts to ensure that all the products are in line with European quality standards. The first meal plans were developed in cooperation with authoritative nutritionists from the United States (Petfood Worldwide Development) and Europe (Petfood Specialties). Today the company has its own department of innovation and nutritionists who develop recipes of dry and wet food.
The food is then produced at one of the two major production plants, which both apply the ‘ISO 22000 Standard Food Safety Management System’. To ensure continued expansion worldwide they also started building a new wet food plant this year in Lithuania.
The company manufactures products under its own brand and private license. Some of their brands are Optimeal, Club 4 Paws, Gav! and Miau! Currently the company exports its products to 19 European countries, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the US.
Five values
The company is based on five values: playing the long game, team, development, responsibility and, the most important one, the unconditional love for animals. That is why 85% of its 700 employees are pet owners and the offices of the company are pet friendly.
Corporate social responsibility… and beyond
A key focus of Kormotech is to stimulate a balanced and harmonic coexistence between humans and animals. To this end, in the past years the company has educated over 30,000 children on animal wellbeing; introduced a national ‘Take your dog to work day’ uniting 550 Ukrainian offices; educated 720 specialists on pet nutrition and sent over 45 tons of pet food to 25 shelters over the course of four years. They also make sure that plants do not pollute the local environment
