Czech pet food manufacturer VAFO aims to produce up to 20,000 tons of dry pet food per year from the first quarter of next year.
The factory located in Nokia, about 200km from the capital Helsinki, will be the ninth production plant of the company in Europe.
The company invested over €15 million in this state-of-the-art facility which will focus on the production of the Finnish pet food brand Hau-Hau Champion. The company told GlobalPETS they are open to producing other private-label brands.
VAFO assures that all ingredients used will be local and follow a sustainable carbon-neutral path with fully recyclable packaging.
New factory by 2025
In March 2021, the manufacturer announced the project to build a new fully automated factory for premium wet pet foods in 2025 in a bid to triple its existing wet food production capacity.
The plant in Chotoviny, 80km south of Prague, “is constantly ramping up production.” “This capacity is not unlimited, which is why by 2025, we want to build a brand-new wet food factory,” explained the company.
