Maxi Zoo, owned by German pet retail group Fressnapf, has opened its 350th location in France. The store is located in Purpan, on the outskirts of Toulouse in southern France.
According to Jan Wejbrandt, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maxi Zoo France, the opening marks an “important milestone.”
The retailer will finish the month with 4 additional openings. Maxi Zoo France aims to have 384 points of sale by the end of 2024 and plans to reach 600 stores by 2028.
Maxi Zoo’s turnover hit €538 million ($575.3M) in 2023, a 26% annual increase. Maxi Zoo witnessed a 60% increase in its e-commerce segment, generating €52 million ($55.6M) last year.
The company was recently elected “Best Retail Chain of the Year 2024” in the pet food category for the second year in a row.
New appointments
Maxi Zoo recently promoted Monique Rodrigo and Rémy Brun-Lafleur as co-CEOs alongside Jan Wejbrandt.
Rodrigo was the company’s Director of Customer Marketing and Communication, while Brun-Lafleur served as the Director of Development.
They will help accelerate Maxi Zoo’s expansion plan, modernize points of sale, introduce new services, including veterinary services, and develop the company’s Click & Collect strategy.
