Innovative packaging, environmentally friendly trends, professional customisation and the highest production standards are but some of the Polish manufacturers’ strengths. The Polish pet industry has valid reasons to be proud.

Environmentally friendly trends

An increasingly stronger emphasis on the ‘eco’ factor is a distinguishing feature ofthe communication of Polish manufacturers of pet brands. Eco-design is intended to communicate product features and evoke associations with nature and a healthy lifestyle.Just look at the so-called Pinio pellets from the Polish brand Certech. This is a type of litter made from 100% natural wood from coniferous trees, microfibres from pine and spruce trees, without the use of chemical additives. Its natural origin and purpose are communicated by images of a wooden cat and a rabbit. “The green background is clearly associated with the forest and nature and, consequently, with the environment and naturalness,” says Małgorzata Prosowicz, Marketing Specialist at Certech.

Innovative solutions

Another Polish pet company, Tropical, uses completely transparent tins and buckets, which are also enriched with a UV filter. This innovative approach is applied for the presentation of products in the form of granules, pellets and sticks. Customers can see the food without having to open the box and this method helps keep products safe. Innovation in Tropical’s products packaging does not end here.Foods from their product line Tropifit are hermetically packaged using inert gas. “By replacing air with gas, selected specially for each product, we can eliminate the problem of unwanted organisms such as bacteria, fungi and various pests during the storage of goods,” explains Dorota Kaniuk, Head of the Technology, Implementation and Quality Control Division at Tropical. This also prevents decay of the sensory characteristics of the final product such as colour, taste and smell.

High standards

A professional approach to the development of the label contents on the packaging is part of the standards at Laboratorium DermaPharm. “We were the first company on the Polish market to insert compositions according to the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) standards on the labels of care products,” says Dagmara Kaczmarek-Salamandra, Head of the Marketing and Development Divison at Laboratorium DermaPharm. “According to this standard, ingredients are listed from the largest to the smallest percentage of contents in the product.” Another trend is the so-called product customisation. With specialised dosing and capsuling systems, the company Zoolek can ensure the highest quality during their production process. Product packaging involves the use of the latest generation of packaging machinery: labellers, sacheting machines, blistering machines, cartoners and the like.

Raw materials from local suppliers

The company Pet Foods is specialized in the use of natural ingredients. “High product quality excludes the use of chemical additives, which is why we only use the best and natural ingredients,” states Justyna Guzielak, Sales and Marketing Director at Pet Foods. “We procure them from local suppliers and check the origins, farming process and quality certificates held by the suppliers.” As Justyna Guzielak assures, the raw materials come from family-owned or individual farms, as well as from farmers who minimize the use fertilisers and plant protection agents, instead using healthy fodder and extensive management.

Individual approach

The company Dingo is a pioneer in the selection of raw materials. “We also work with independent certification bodies to offer the option to test these materials used in the production process in order to confirm their compliance with European Union standards,” says Agata Rutkowska-Piszczy´nska, CEO of Dingo.
