US-based processing and packaging solutions firm ProMach has acquired Zanichelli Meccanica (Zacmi), an Italian firm that provides filling, seaming and pasteurization technology.
ProMach says the deal will help expand its product portfolio and “strengthen its position” as one of the world’s largest providers of process, filling and systems integration solutions.
Founded in 1954 and based in Parma, Zacmi supplies filling, closing and sterilization equipment for food and pet food products. Since its inception, it claims to have installed more than 2,500 machines worldwide. The company operates as a family business with more than 120 employees and a subsidiary in the US.
Solving customer challenges
According to ProMach, the acquisition will help it “solve a wider range of customer challenges” while allowing Zacmi to cater to a broader market.
Zacmi and its entire team will be absorbed into the packaging firm, joining its primary packaging business line, which is led by Business Unit President Doug Stambaugh.
The Italian firm’s Managing Director, Giorgio Boselli, will assume the role of VP and General Manager, and Zacmi’s President, Caterina Pagani, will retain an honorary directorship. “In ProMach, we have found a partner that will enhance the value of our business and ensure continuity for our customers and our people,” Boselli says.
“Our employees will benefit from ProMach’s extensive portfolio of solutions and relationships, and we know that this move will ensure the continued growth of Zacmi.”
