Pet care start-up Filu Vet closes €2 million investment

The Munich-based hybrid vet practice will open its first location in the Bavarian capital after the capital injection.
By combining digital processes, video, and in-person consultations, Filu aims to make pet care more “personalized and holistic for the growing group of tech-savvy millennials with pets.”
Instead of taking over practices, the start-up pursues a so-called “de-novo” strategy by building its practices backed by proprietary technology to support the team and pet owners.
“By bundling our technology-enabled practices, a structured data pool, and proprietary software, we are making it our goal to become the primary platform for high-quality pet care,” said co-owner Christian Köhler.
The company warned that underpayment, high pressure without acknowledgment, as well as many analog processes in practices “are taking their toll on medical professionals.”
According to Filu, digitalization in veterinary practices still has much upside potential, and it announced opening its first location in Munich’s city center, followed by other cities in the future.
