With the acquisition of Zoo Group Stefanov and Zvjerinjak, the company aims to validate its leading position in southeast Europe.
The Zoo Group Stefanov, founded in 2009, operates 30 stores across Bulgaria and has its own e-commerce platform. Pet Network International (PNI) said it would merge its current operations in the country, including its stores, consolidate the store estate under the Dr. Stefanov brand, and focus on omnichannel growth.
Mario Ivanov, Chief Executive Officer of Zoo Group Stefanov, joins PNI as the Chief Executive Officer for the Bulgarian market.
Zvjerinjak, which operates 6 stores in Zagreb, will be converted to PNI’s Pet Centar in the upcoming months. This takeover will “substantially bolster” the presence of PNI in the Croatian capital, where it also has other stores.
Timo Tervo, Chief Executive Officer at PNI, said that both acquisitions strengthen the position of PNI in the region and prove that growth and investment is its “biggest driver.”
Headquartered in Croatia, PNI operates over 200 stores and e-commerce platforms in Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, and Bulgaria.
