Petco appoints new COO as part of management reshuffle

Justin Tichy will lead the company-wide logistics strategy, including the oversight of distribution centers.

The San Diego-based company announced an “evolution” in its organizational design and new roles to enable “continued growth by fully leveraging its end-to-end ecosystem for customers.”

New COO Justin Tichy has previous professional experience in Walmart, Target and Best Buy. Petco believes that this background will help to drive “excellence” across the company’s 1,400 pet care centers.

Mike Nuzzo, Chief Operating Officer and President of Services, is leaving the pet care company after more than seven years.

More changes

Petco also created new positions and roles along with implementing modifications to its organizational design.

Amy College becomes Chief Merchandising Officer and will take responsibility for demand planning, to integrate products and customer demand.

Darren MacDonald, Chief Digital and Innovation Officer, is assuming a new role as Chief Customer Officer. He will oversee the digital team, marketing, data science and customer service.

Jason Heffelfinger, Senior Vice President Services, has been promoted to Chief Services Officer.

“These appointments and our organizational design are emblematic of our focus on putting the customer and data at the center of everything we do as we meet the customer need of a single partner for the health and wellness needs of their pet,” claimed Petco CEO, Ron Coughlin.

Petco operates more than 1,500 pet care centers across the United States, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
