Sven Schlager will also become the startup’s managing director for Germany.
With the addition of Schlager to the management team, petgood looks to develop the brand further and introduce its sustainable and healthy pet food to new markets in 2023.
He brings varied experience working across different industries in his career, including a 5-year stint with AlphaPet Ventures.
“I can’t wait to develop the brand, set up the German petgood branch, and tell pet parents all over the world that insects are the way forward,” he said, adding that petgood’s objective to reduce the pet carbon footprint by 90% was what attracted him to join the new venture.
Petgood Founder and CEO Pernilla Westergren added that Sven brings “fantastic” expertise and experience in brand building, operational efficiency, and leadership.
The company was founded in 2020 in Sweden by Westergren and Thomas Dalebring. In 2022, it raised €2.5 million ($2.7M) to boost research and development capabilities and €1.9 million ($2.1M) to expand internationally.
