Pets Corner | United kingdom
Pets Corner was founded in 1968, and today they are the second largest pet chain in the UK. What has made their success?
Locally sourced foods
Like every chain in the pet industry and in also other industries the company is faced with internet parties or pet chains that sell well-known brands at discount prices. To differentiate their business from competitors, Pets Corner pursues the strategy of selecting mostly local brands with a good high-end quality at affordable prices.
With the support of these brands the company protects itself against the price erosion of others while building a strong connection with their clients, who are very much aware of what they feed their pets.
The benefit of selling home-grown food is that it omits the need for import papers, licences and/or certificates.
Improved quality
The company’s private label is called ‘Great & Small’ and aims to supply average commodity products with an edge, namely a slightly better quality. For instance, rubber products of Pets Corner are made of 99% natural rubber whereas those of most competitors only contain between 40% and 60% natural rubber.
