The Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) claims the affordability of these products is a response to consumer needs.
The PLMA has recently announced the winners of the 2023 International Salute to Excellence Awards, two of which were given to pet food products.
Vega Società Cooperativa, a cooperative retailing network with more than 250 points of sale in Northern Italy, was awarded for its innovative biodegradable cat litter product. The product is part of its Mondo Pulito Ecologico line.
South African retailer Woolworths was also recognized for its own private-label Strawberry Flavored Frozen Yoghurt for dogs. The company retails pet care and pet food products and accessories under their private label brands Posh Pets and Fresh Pets.
A jury of former retailers, chefs, marketing professionals, nutritionists, and journalists reviewed 525 submitted products from 64 retailers, out of which 39 businesses were honored for their innovation and quality in their private-label merchandise.
