The Nestlé subsidiary is to add more than 35,000 sqm to the Bük facility to build a new production unit.
The Ft140 billion (â¬353M) funding will also support the creation of an automated storage and retrieval systems warehouse.
Péter Noszek, Managing Director at Nestlé Hungary, said the new investment demonstrates the demand for pet food in Hungary and the 50 markets it serves, adding that demand is likely to grow.
Similarly to previous developments, the new facilities will prioritize innovative and environmentally friendly solutions. In the new units, electricity will be supplied solely by green electric boilers, which is said to improve the carbon emission values of the plant further.
In line with the global objectives of the company, Nestlé Purinaâs Bük facility has used renewable energy for 6 years, with industrial waste being recycled or utilized for heating.
This investment follows Ft50 billion (â¬126M) in 2020 and Ft35 billion (â¬88M) in 2021.
The pet food manufacturer reported an increase of 1.7% in revenue in Europe in the first 9 months of 2022.
