Research from UK’s Napo Pet Insurance concludes that 13.5% of vets wish that pet owners would understand their animals’ pain more.
The survey, carried out by the pet insurance firm to 100 vets, revealed that 11.4% of respondents wanted pet owners to research breed risks before getting a pet.
One in 5 (20.8%) vets and vet nurses desired pet parents to be financially prepared to own a pet by knowing vet bill costs, taking out lifetime pet insurance, and understanding their insurance policy.
More than 1 out of 10 respondents said they wished pet owners could identify the signs of pain in their pets and avoid postponing vet visits if the animal shows symptoms.
In addition, 10.4% of respondents requested that pet owners be kinder to health professionals and trust that vets are on their side.
Funding
Napo, launched in December 2021, recently raised £15 million (€17M) in a Series A funding round led by DN Capital. Funding included contributions from pet care-focused Companion Fund, Helvetia Venture Fund, MTech Capital, Picus Capital, dmg ventures, Sarona Partners, T0 Ventures, and FJ Labs.
The investment will help Napo accelerate product rollout, grow the number of pets insured, and plan for the company’s expansion.
The insurance startup has seen “outstanding growth” and estimates it ensured more than 40,000 pets by the end of 2022.
