Zolux aims not only to continue creating reliable products committed to a sustainable future, but also to become the most committed and inventive brand on the European market.
A brand new image
Zolux has decided to revamp its visual identity to reflect its history and ambitions. The company has spent time rewriting its positioning, values and beliefs, as these were no longer truly in tune with the brand, which has changed considerably in recent years. It is now unveiling a new logo, a new baseline and new packaging, with the aim of establishing itself as a benchmark brand in pet supplies.
The logo still features the brand’s iconic red, but in a more modern, sophisticated tone. While keeping its rounded forms, to evoke the warm aspect of Zolux, the logo has a m
ore dynamic shape together with a new emblem: the hummingbird. The hummingbird is a meaningful choice: first of all, it points to the company’s origins, the seed store opened by the founders of Zolux in Saintes, Charente-Maritime in 1933, and it is also a powerful symbol of kindness, hope, generosity, courage and optimism, as well as being emblematic of the company’s commitment to protecting the environment.
Maintaining a diverse range of products is also at the very heart of the Zolux brand: its catalogue comprises approximately 4000 references, all created by an in-house design team. Product packaging and segmentation have been completely reworked to unify the brand in the store setting, and also to allow greater clarity for customers.
All packs will now display a section on sustainable development attributes (labels, recyclability, natural-origin ingredients, made in France/Europe, etc.) in keeping with brand commitments.
Increased presence on the european market
As a major creator, manufacturer and distributor in the pet store sector, Zolux is continuing its expansion on the European market. After opening its Zolux Iberia subsidiary at the beginning of 2023, the Group has recently acquired a 15,000 sqm production facility in Czech Republic, in Lutin near Olomouc.
Following the opening of the Zolux Iberia subsidiary in early 2023, the Group now has 3 subsidiaries in Europe (in Poland, Italy and Spain-Portugal) and its products are distributed in 50 countries.
With 74% of its supplies already sourced in Europe, ZOLUX will be significantly expanding its manufacturing in Europe too, one of the Group’s top priorities in terms of its CSR commitments, with particular reference to reducing its carbon footprint as much as possible.
Perfect synergism
By acquiring this European factory, the Zolux Group is also strengthening its leading position in the increasingly competitive pet supplies market. This new resource means that Zolux now has a unique facility in Europe, transforming glass, wood and plastic with expertise and quality. Add to this Zolux’s R&D, marketing and international distribution expertise, and the new opportunities for the Group are immense.
Zolux pursues its commitment to the environment and society…
Zolux’s Horizon corporate social responsibility initiative, launched in 2020, continues to be as ambitious as ever:
- Ecodesign
- Responsible purchasing
- Products designed alongside veterinarians
- Participative creation during development with the design office
- Actions to support animal welfare and biodiversity…
Many concrete examples illustrate their desire to make a difference, to “do things better”.
Zolux has even gone so far as to adopt the status of “mission-led company”, a company with specific environmental or social goals (a new legal status as per the French Pacte Law of 22 May 2019). According to the CEO, Matthieu Haurit, “Animal welfare, family, sustainability and respect for the environment are at the heart of what we do and underpin our social and environmental objectives.”
The company’s raison d’être, “creating sustainable happiness for pets and their families” guides everything they do.
… and its creative dynamic
In addition to these commitments, the company continues to develop innovative concepts for all types of pets. In early 2023, it successfully launched a new concept in habitats and accessories for small animals: Neopark.
The innovative Neopark concept is much more than just a collection of habitats and accessories for rabbits and guinea pigs. It’s the culmination of a carefully thought-out approach developed alongside animal enthusiasts – the owners themselves – driven by a deep-seated commitment to the well-being of their faithful companions.
Neopark world – Products co-created by owners and validated by a vet
With a view to co-creating the Neopark world, a dozen small mammal owners were invited to take an active part in workshops. Their aim was to help design products that were perfectly suited to their animals. Prototype tests were also carried out over several weeks, to check the quality of the products to be sold.
The Neopark universe comprises two main aspects: one dedicated to rabbits and the other to guinea pigs, each of which has specific needs.
For each concept, Zolux offers a habitat into which several products can be inserted, such as a litter box or a little house. Some accessories, such as toys, are offered differently for each type of pet: there are fewer toys for guinea pigs, for example, as they are less playful than rabbits.
Each accessory has been designed to correspond to the physiology of each species as well as its affinities, and has been validated by a vet. For example, the guinea pig’s bowl is lower than the rabbit’s because their neck morphology is different.
The wooden accessories in the collection are 100% FSC-certified, guaranteeing responsible, sustainable sourcing. The fabric products are made from recycled materials, helping to reduce the range’s ecological footprint.
In addition to its eco-responsible commitments, Zolux is committed to donating 1% of the sale price of products in the Neopark universe to the YouCare Association, which works to protect animals and biodiversity.
