This is the second production plant the private label manufacturer has sold this year.
American pet food and treats producer Sunshine Mills has acquired a large-scale production plant from Red Collar Pet Foods in Joplin, Missouri.
The facility, consisting of over 200,000 square feet in production lines and warehousing, is expected to boost the Alabama-based firm’s pet treat production.
Sunshine Mills says the plant’s location will help them increase access to distribution networks. The facility employs around 130 people and was bought by Red Collar in 2019 from Hampshire Pet Products.
This deal follows Purina’s purchase of Red Collar’s production plant in Oklahoma in March.
Red Collar is based in Tennessee and was acquired by Mars Petcare and private equity firm Arbor Investments in 2018.
Sunshine Mills has 7 production facilities, with its headquarters in Red Bay, Alabama.
