Symrise accelerates footprint expansion in China
A new joint venture with poultry processor Sunner is aimed to set a strategic partnership in the region providing high-quality, sustainable egg proteins.
The German supplier believes that the new partnership “contributes fully to side-stream valorization business model” after the completion of the firm’s pet food factory in China in 2021 and the acquisition of Shanghai-based Wing Biotech in mid-2022.
Symrise will hold a major share of the joint venture and operational management. The products of the joint venture will be sold under the Symrise Pet Food brand Nutrios.
Fujian Sunner Development Co, trading as Sunner, has produced chicken broilers since 1982 for the domestic market.
Collaborative effort
Both firms will work in partnership in the manufacturing and marketing of premium and sustainable egg proteins for the pet food sector.
Symrise will contribute its expertise and market knowledge, while Sunner will supply the eggs, offering “great opportunities” to both parties.
Dr. Jean-Yves Parisot, President of Taste, Nutrition & Health of Symrise AG, said: “This move fully meets our values and sustainable positioning in egg upcycling. Experts consider APAC the fastest growing region for pet food applications globally.”
He added that the combined expertise will meet the “expectations and demands” of pet parents, paving the way for future opportunities.
