12 pet industry companies appeared in 2023âs Inc. 5000 list, an annual ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States published by business publication Inc.
Jiminyâs, an insect-based pet food and treat brand, was the highest-ranked pet industry company at position #323, with a 1,758% revenue growth. This is its second appearance in a row on the list.
Human-grade bone-broth producer Brutus Broth stood at 373 with a 1,556% revenue growth. The woman-owned, community-oriented company offers a variety of recipes fortified with glucosamine and chondroitin, a plant-based salmon bone broth with omega fatty acids.
2004-established Farm Hounds secured spot 683 with 866% revenue growth. Its portfolio includes natural, dehydrated dog treats, chews, food toppers made from animal-based ingredients and proteins from sustainable small farms.
At 684 is Bow Wow Labs, a dog treats and supplement brand. The dog-focused brand offers natural chews, bully sticks, collagen chews, baked biscuit treats and oral health products.
The Encompass Pet Group (owner of Choice Pet Products) ranked 1,332 with a 437% revenue growth. The e-commerce company owns the Snuggle Puppy brand and the DOGPerfect retail chain. The group recently announced the integration of Choice Pet products as a logistical arm to support Snuggle Puppy and DOGPerfect.
Other pet industry companies like Vetnique Pet Products, Vital Pet Life, SmarterPaw, Carnivore Meat Company, SynergyLabs, Real Dog and âI and love and youâ are also featured on the list.
How it works
Companies were ranked on percentage revenue growth from 2019 to 2022. They must also be privately owned and have achieved a minimum of $100,000 (â¬93,240) in 2019 revenue and $2 million (â¬1.86M) in 2022.
All companies on the Inc. 5000 2023 list experienced a median growth of 219%, culminating in total revenue of $358.2 billion (â¬334.3B). 3,048 companies on the list were repeat honorees, while 636 companies were new.
