The European Product Design Awards 2023, organized by visual arts curator Farmani Group, have announced 6 winners in the pet category. The awards recognize the efforts of practical and well-thought-out creations.
Bike seat
Netherlands-based pet bike seat maker Kvisp, in partnership with product-design company Modyn, took the top spot in the “Top Design Winner in Other Designs” category.
The product is a bike seat that can be front-mounted to bikes with a harness. It has been recognized for its innovation in aiding mobility and incorporating companion animals into pet parents’ daily adventures.
Fashion collars
In the “Collars and Leashes” category, British pet accessory brand Xparkles, under Chinese company Bespoke Tails, won the award for its customizable rhinestone leather collars. The design, which is patented in the UK and US and known for its uniqueness in the accessory market, was also the silver award winner at the 2023 Muse Design Awards, an international competition that recognizes excellence and originality in design.
The product meets quality standards like ISO9001 and features interchangeable charms for fashion-conscious pet owners without compromising durability and comfort.
“The use of interchangeable charms has been extremely successful in the human jewelry market, and we wanted to create something that would provide a similar gift-buying opportunity for pet parents,” says Co-Founder Erika Yao.
Smart dog collar
Barcelona-headquartered Kolyy, a manufacturer of GPS-enabled dog collars, won the award in the “Safety” category. Designed in partnership with Spanish design solution company TANDEM, Kolyy’s wearable smart devices offer an innovative solution for tracking dogs.
It also incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) tools for processing data and generating health alerts to support active and healthy lifestyles.
Pet house
The Monolocale pet house by Italian company Mishidesign received the award in the “House & Cages” category.
The product offers a loft-style, small urban apartment for cats and small dogs that features a plywood structure, stainless steel bowls and cozy rugs to provide a comfortable design-forward living space for companion animals.
Pet feeder
Spanish home product company Casa Vigar won the “Feeding & Treats” category for its 3-piece pet feeder, which incorporates a slow feeder, drinking container and food measuring cup in 1 product.
The innovative design was also recognized for its resistant, nonslip base, easy-to-clean benefits, food safety quality measures and comfortable grip. The company states that this award reinforces its position as a benchmark in the industrial design and usability industry.
Treat-carrying clicker tool
US-based Clink Design’s Clink Clicker won the “Feeding & Treats” category. The product incorporates a training clicker with a small treat dispenser for an innovative approach to clicker training and treat management during training sessions and outdoor activities.
Its sliding mechanism allows for swift treat delivery while maintaining product freshness, offering a convenient, quick and clean solution for carrying and dispensing treats.
