Petco has emerged as the only pet retailer listed in the top 10 retail finishers to be named one of America’s Most Responsible Companies, an annual list released by market research firm Statista and the magazine Newsweek.
The San Diego-headquartered retailer scored 74.56 overall for its corporate social responsibility (CSR), which encompasses values and operations around environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG). The company received 80.77 for its environmental concerns.
Other general retailers that sell pet supplies and made it to the top 25 include Target (8), with a score of 76.19, and Kroger (25), with a score of 66.27.
In all, 600 companies were recognized this year. They were ranked by measuring quantitative data from over 30 CSR-related KPIs (key performance indicators).
