VIGOR & SAGE | Netherlands

VIGOR & SAGE is a new super premium pet food brand for cats and dogs. The company has carefully researched the evolution of their feeding habits.

Naturally growing herbs

Thousands of years ago the behaviour and feeding habits of cats and dogs were remarkably similar. Both lived in the forest and both were predatory carnivores. They needed a high protein diet to enable them to prey on other animals and defend themselves against predators. The ancestors of today’s cats and dogs suffered from the same issues as modern-day pets. These included skin, hair, digestion and bowel problems, as well as other health issues caused by fatigue and injuries. To counter these problems, they did something quite surprising. They ate naturally growing herbs.

Holistic balanced approach

The company has embraced this ancient wisdom of nourishment by using the purest natural ingredients enriched with beneficial herbs. Each herb has unique natural benefits. Lily root to care for skin and hair by helping boost the immune system, for example. But also lotus leaf to aid weight control, and ginseng and wolfberry to help with general well-being. This holistic balanced approach means the company can supply a range of complete foods. It is not just about the wisdom of the past though. Today’s recipes are based on the latest scientific research. The emphasis lies on formulating recipes to suit each individual cat and dog.

400 pet stores

VIGOR & SAGE was officially launched in May 2016 at the international Interzoo exhibition in Germany. In July 2016, the company opened its headquarters in Amsterdam, followed by offices in Norway, Germany and France. In Norway, the company enjoyed one of the most successful launches ever of a new pet food brand. By the end of 2016, it was available in more than 400 pet stores.

The company will be launching in 27 other countries during 2017.

Ethical principles

In the long-term, the belief is that it is their corporate responsibility to move the pet food industry in a healthier and more transparent direction. It is not just about selling a pet food brand, it is also about ethical principles. The ambition is to provide a brand which people can trust and which inspires them.
