The American retailer shares with GlobalPETS how this one-stop-shop for pet parents is the first step to a possible future expansion to other territories.
America’s biggest retail corporation, Walmart, has announced the opening of its first pet services center in Dallas, Georgia, in a move to create a one-stop solution for pet products and services alongside daily groceries.
The 1,300-square-foot facility extends ‘Walmart’s Everyday Low Prices’ to its pet offerings through a self-serve dog wash, routine veterinary care—including vaccinations, wellness exams and medical services—and grooming services—like bathing, nail and hair clipping or teeth and ear cleaning.
The center will also provide “highest quality” pet supplies from national brand labels and Walmart’s private brand portfolio as well as a self-serve dog wash.
“Pet services are essential for pet owners. Unfortunately, accessing them can be expensive and disjointed. We saw an opportunity to bring much needed pet services to our customers in one central location where they’re already shopping for food and supplies,” a Walmart spokesperson tells GlobalPETS.
Expanding nationwide
The retailer, which already offers in-store vet clinics across 65 locations owned and operated by PetIQ, has partnered with the same firm to provide qualified veterinary and grooming professionals.
GlobalPETS learned that the retailer has the ambition to replicate their Walmart Pet Services model in the future.
“We’re using our Dallas, Georgia location to learn how best to work with our collaborators and optimize our services to ensure we’re delivering on quality and affordability before opening more locations at other stores across the country,” concludes the spokesperson.
