The manufacturer has purchased a new production facility in the Czech Republic.
French company Zolux Group has grown its European presence with the purchase of the Cat-Gato production facility near Olomouc (280 km from the capital Prague), which specializes in glass, wood and plastic processing.
The firm is taking over machinery, tangible and intangible assets, brands, models and stock in the 15,000 m2 production plant. They are also absorbing the previous 72 employees.
Cat-Gato started as a cat scratching post producer in 1999 and then branched out to other products such as aquariums, textiles, wood and leather goods. The Czech company claims to be one of the main aquarium producers in Europe.
The group says that this new addition boosts its “Made in Europe” production goal.
More facilities
Zolux opened its Iberia subsidiary earlier in 2023 to serve customers in Spain and Portugal.
It also purchased part of the Alcatel industrial wasteland near the company’s head office in Southwest France. The company plans to turn the 11,000 m2 facility into an industrial center dedicated to animal health and a new logistics warehouse with a total investment of €8 million ($8.7M).
Zolux also plans to purchase 3 more production facilities by the end of 2024 located in France and other European countries.
