AlphaPet expands European footprint with acquisition of Belgian pet food brand

The German firm will add Cpro Food’s premium cat and dog food to its portfolio.

AlphaPet Ventures has announced its acquisition of Cpro Food, a premium dog and cat food brand based in Ans, Belgium. This transaction marks the German company’s fifth acquisition since 2020.

A strategic move

Founded in 2014 by sisters Anne-France and Béatrice Germeau, Cpro Food owns a wide range of brands that include dry food, wet food and treats.

Their products are available at 370 specialty pet retailers and more than 1,150 professional breeding stations.

“Anne-France and Béatrice have built an impressive brand with Cpro Food that fits perfectly into our portfolio as a ‘Local Hero’ in the Belgian super-premium segment,” says Marco Hierling, Founder and CEO of AlphaPet.

The acquisition will also mean that AlphaPet will provide the resources necessary to scale Cpro Food’s growth beyond Belgium while maintaining its premium standards.

To ensure continuity for both customers and partners, the entire Cpro team, along with its founders, will remain on board to guide the brand’s next phase of growth.

Five acquisitions in six years

AlphaPet’s strategy relies heavily on acquiring “local hero brands” with premium products that have established followings in their specific categories and geographic regions.

The Cpro Food deal closely follows AlphaPet’s purchase of Wales-based JR Pet Products in January 2025, marking the second major expansion into the UK market.

The Munich-headquartered firm also strengthened its position in the DACH region by acquiring Herrmann’s Manufaktur, a leading German premium organic wet food brand, in early 2023.
