Butternut Box and PsiBufet add new production site in Poland
The British and Polish pet food manufacturers want to enhance their distribution capabilities in Europe.
Dog food manufacturers Butternut Box and PsiBufet will soon have a new production plant of nearly 40,000 sqm in the Katowice Special Economic Zone, 80 km west of Kraków.
The new facility, which will be built by logistics firm CTP, is expected to be fully operational by mid-2025. “Production at CTPark Zabrze will allow us to deliver fresh food even faster to hundreds of thousands of dogs in Germany, as well as other countries in mainland Europe,” comments David Nolan, the Founder and CEO of Butternut Box.
Nolan notes that Poland is a key market for them and that he is “delighted” that it is becoming a regional hub for the business. Butternut Box acquired PsiBufet a year ago to increase its European footprint.
The company will build the new factory using part of the £280 million (€329.2M/$357.5M) capital injection it received last year.
A strategic location
PsiBufet founder Piotr Wawrysiuk attributes the choice of location in the Upper Silesia region to the presence of a large market of highly skilled workers, well-developed infrastructure and proximity to the A1 and A4 motorways for fast deliveries.
“The possibility of receiving public aid also played a major role in the choice of site for the investment,” he admits.
The new Polish facility is an addition to Butternut Box’s sole manufacturing site in Doncaster, UK. “The facility in Zabrze will have 30% more production capacity than our UK facility,” Wawrysiuk explains to GlobalPETS.
